Deborah Leonard, Painter
Deborah’s love of nature is clearly reflected in her artwork. She is inspired by the landscapes around her and especially enjoys capturing the changing shapes, light, and movement of clouds. While her paintings begin as a personal expression, she is pleased when viewers connect with them and find something meaningful in the work. She approaches painting with independence and authenticity, sharing her own view of the world and inviting others to see it through her eyes.
Deborah works primarily in acrylics and enjoys both plein air painting and studio work. She is a past president of the Avon Arts Association, a past vice president of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society and a founding member of Simsbury Open Studios. Her work has received numerous awards and has been featured in many juried exhibitions. Committed to the preservation of Connecticut’s farmland and watershed areas, Deborah actively supports conservation efforts through her artwork and volunteer service.
